This Fall at Synergy I would like to work through Jeff Bogue's "Assume I Know Nothing" material. The premise of the book is starting from the very basics of the Christian faith and not making assumptions about what people already know. Jeff just released the book within the past year and I think it is very timely material for our youth group. We have many who have very little church background and would greatly benefit from learning the basics. We have others who grew up in church but still don't "get it" yet. And we still have others who are all in on Jesus but could use help explaining their faith to other teens.
As we prepare for the school year, I would love for other leaders to join me in studying this material in advance. I have purchased a copy of the book for everybody, but I know some learn better with visuals or audio so I also want to share other resources from Jeff and his church.
The first thing I'd really love everybody to listen to is a half-hour podcast Jeff did with Eric Miller talking about the overall vision of the book. Beyond that, they also did a sermon series on the same material that I will link below. Third, Jeff recorded an audio version of the book and put it in a podcast format. Maybe you'd be willing to listen on your commute. Or maybe you'd like to listen as you read along (this is what I'm doing because I tend to get too distracted just reading).
We will work on a teaching schedule down the road. For now, if everybody could take a listen to the podcast episode and start praying for God to work in our students' hearts that would be an awesome start!
