Leadership
These gifts are used to lead others: administration, leadership and pastoring/shepherding.
The gift of administration is the God-given ability to give direction and make decisions on behalf of others that result in efficiency and the accomplishment of goals. Administration includes the ability to organize people, things, information, finances and so on. (1 Corinthians 12:28)
The spiritual gift of leadership is found in people who have a clear, significant vision from God and can communicate it publicly or privately in such a way that they inspire others to pursue that vision. (Romans 12:8)
The person with a pastoring/shepherding gift has a love for people that compels him or her to meet with people, to care for them and to guide them with biblical instruction. People with this gift find great joy in seeing people mature in their faith and overcome habitual sin and discouragement. (Ephesians 4:11)

Service
These gifts are used to serve others: giving, helps, hospitality and mercy.
The gift of giving is the ability to give money, time and other resources joyfully, wisely and generously to meet the needs of others and to help support ministries. (Romans 12:8)
The gift of helps/service is the God-given ability to joyfully assist in the completion of tasks that are necessary but usually behind the scenes. This gift is usually accompanied by an attitude of humility and sacrifice, as well as an ability to perceive the needs of others. (1 Corinthians 12:28)
The spiritual gift of hospitality is the ability to welcome strangers and entertain guests, often in your home, with great joy and kindness. Hospitality is meant to be extended to one’s family (1 Timothy 5:8), friends (Proverbs 27:10) and fellow Christians (Galatians 6:10) as well as strangers (Leviticus 19:34).
The gift of mercy is the capacity to feel and express unusual compassion and empathy for those who are suffering or in difficult situations and provide them with the necessary help and support to see them through tough times. (Romans 12:8)
Serve at Synergy:
- Welcome Team – Serve others by creating a warm, helpful, and approachable environment.
- Serve at a Special Event – Make yourself available to serve food, help the event function, clean up afterward, etc.
- Tech Team – Support gatherings behind the scenes through faithful, detail-oriented service.
- Setup/Teardown – Help with our regular week-to-week needs, even when it’s not noticed. Examples: games, prayer wall, fundraisers, etc.
Communication
These gifts are used to serve others through communication: encouragement, prophecy and teaching.
The gift of encouragement (also known as exhortation) involves motivating, encouraging and consoling others to help them mature and continue in their walks with Jesus. People with this gift are often sensitive and drawn to those who are discouraged or struggling. They tend to have a high degree of patience with and optimism for other people. (Romans 12:8)
The gift of prophecy involves being able to proclaim a message from God. It is proclaiming the Word of God boldly. This builds up the body and leads to conviction of sin — that is, people realizing and agreeing with God about their sin. Prophecy shows itself in various forms of preaching and teaching God’s Word to others. (1 Corinthians 12:10; Romans 12:6)
The gift of teaching is the God-given ability to understand and communicate biblical truth with application in a clear and relevant way. People with the gift of teaching often find joy in learning, researching, communicating and illustrating the truth of the Bible. (Romans 12:7; 1 Corinthians 12:28; Ephesians 4:11)
Serve at Synergy:

- Icebreaker Team – Use energy and words to help people feel comfortable and connected. Set the tone for the rest of the night.
- Social Media Content Creation – Communicates creatively and consistently to encourage and inform beyond just youth nights.
- Encourage Others through Conversations – Uses words intentionally to speak life, hope, and truth into others one-on-one. Look for somebody who isn’t already talking to someone and initiate!
Spiritual Insight
These gifts are used to impart insight about the truth of God’s Word: discernment, knowledge and wisdom.
The spiritual gift of discernment is the ability to quickly perceive with assurance whether such things as people, events or beliefs are in reality divine, human or satanic. People with this gift can discern when something is not of God, and their perceptions will be in line with the Bible. (1 Corinthians 12:10).
The Holy Spirit gives the spiritual gift of knowledge to some believers to communicate biblical knowledge and understanding to others. The person with this gift is usually well-versed in the Scriptures and can retain the truth and communicate it at the appropriate times. It has been associated with the ability to teach the faith but also with forms of revelation similar to prophecy. (1 Corinthians 12:8)
The gift of wisdom is a special degree of insight about people and situations and an understanding of what to do about it. It is the ability to not only see but also to apply the principles of God’s Word to the practical matters of life by the “Spirit of wisdom.” (Ephesians 1:17; 1 Corinthians 12:8)
Serve at Synergy:

- Lead a high school discussion group – Develop follow-up questions for a lesson and help guide other students as they reflect on what we are studying.
- Disciple another student – Help someone grow in faith through consistent, thoughtful conversations. This could be someone your age or younger.
- Regularly share Scripture with other students – Bring biblical truth into everyday life with a simple text or message.
Intercession
These gifts are used to intercede on behalf of others: faith, healing and miracles.
The gift of faith is the ability to trust God to accomplish what needs to be done in difficult and seemingly impossible situations. Those with this gift are often visionaries who dream big dreams, pray big prayers and attempt big things for Jesus. They are often very convinced of the truth and power of God and His Word.
The gift of healing is the ability to call on God and trust Him to heal the sick through supernatural means for the purpose of revealing God. People with this gift see healing as a sign that God uses to reveal His power to people so that many will come to believe in Jesus. People with this gift may not see someone healed every time they ask God, since healing is something that God alone decides to do. (Galatians 4:13-14; 1 Corinthians 12:9)
The gift of miracles is the ability to call on God to do supernatural acts that reveal His power. People with the gift of miracles see God show up in extraordinary ways, from daily little events to major public displays. People with this gift do not chase signs and wonders, but they do believe God can powerfully intervene in the world.
